Swansea Social Group – Developing Skills for Work in a Social Setting
As part of the monthly ASDES social meeting, eight clients in receipt of work related support from ASDES met at Tapestri in Swansea City Centre to catch up and put into action skills in working together.
Everyone had time to meet with those they had not seen for a while and share their news and increase their social networks.
A task was introduced to the group that enabled them to develop their skills in working with others and making decisions. Judith presented nine photographs on an arrange of topics and asked the group to decided what they thought was the best image and order then in preference from the most favoured to the least. In small groups there was lots of discussion about the range of images with questions about what some of the images represented and the reasons why people have different views on what is a good photograph.
There were many varied and different opinions which made others think differently about what they had seen but most importantly everyone became aware of the skills that they were using which are valuable for the workplace. All participants were presented with a note on the skills that they had used and encouraged to use such examples in their applications and interviews for work.
ASDES runs a number of events linked with using photography to engage participants and develop individuals confidence for the world of work. For further information email firstname.lastname@example.org
