Recognition of positive work
ASDES participants joined in the celebrations of work carried out by groups at the Down to Earth project this year. ASDES participants have provided over 200 hours of work to help construct the new residential centre on the site at Llanrhidian. On Friday 14th July members of the Valleys Kids came to site to look at the progress of their residential centre. ASDES participants engaged with the members of staff, parents and participants linked with Valleys Kids to share their input into the construction of the residential centre.
As one ASDES participant noted, ‘without this beam I constructed this building would not stand up‘
The project funding that ASDES was able to access, provided all participants with a photo collage of them involved in tasks throughout the 8 week period. One participant noted that he was taking his photo collage to his next job interview to show them what he was capable of.
‘It was great to see the smiles and sense of achievement that the participants beamed as they were presented with their individual photo collages, these we are real hit that enabled everyone to be proud of their achievements.’ – Judith (Job Coach).
Following on from their success in construction, participants and now enrolling on a Design Camp run by Down to Earth where they will develop a design for a new building that will be used by Down to Earth on a daily basis.
