ASDES Social Group Trip to Rhossili
Whoever would have thought we would be lucky enough to enjoy such a gloriously warm and sunny day for our trip to Rhossili? We set off from Swansea bus station after welcoming Sam, our newest social group member, and were able to enjoy a scenic drive through Gower, recognising many of its lovely bays and villages en route. We were expecting to meet up with Stephen at Rhossili and decided to take a stroll along the causeway, out to the Worm’s Head, whilst we waited for Jordan to join us on the next bus – he had narrowly missed getting into Swansea in time for the earlier bus. Everyone enjoyed chatting whilst we walked out towards the Worm’s Head; it was a very clear and bright day and the tide was beginning to come in, so the signs were out advising us it was not possible to cross to the worm with the incoming tide. There were some stunning views as we walked, both in the air, with the paragliders circling above, and down on the beach, where the waves were coming in.
Once Jordan had arrived, we were able to enjoy lunch together in the Bay Bistro, in the courtyard that overlooked the bay; it was a really lovely setting and everyone was able to get to know one another. After lunch, we confirmed our bus time for the return journey and decided that, with the remaining hour, we could go down to the beach or take a walk around the village and visit the National Trust exhibition centre; Stephen accompanied Jordan, Sam and Artyom for a walk down to the beach whilst Rachel and I had ice creams and a walk out to the National Trust centre. Well done to everyone who walked onto the beach as it was a very long and steep ascent back up to the top! Stephen took lots of lovely photographs, some of which are included here.
It was a very enjoyable afternoon and everyone commented that they had not visited Rhossili for some time, but felt compelled to return again soon as it was such a beautiful and peaceful environment.
